LOCATION:

Domogled - Cerna Valley National Park is located in the south-west of Romania, namely in the south-western Carpathians.

National Park includes Cerna valley basin, bordered in the west by Godeanu and Cerna Mountains and in the east by Mehedinti and Valcan Mountains.

National Park area is 61211 ha, 46931 ha of forest and 19170 ha special conservation area.

DESCRIPTION:

Domogled - Cerna Valley is a protected area with a picturesque landscape of unparalleled beauty.

Karst topography in Domogled - Cerna Valley is very representative, is unevenly distributed, with an exceptional scientific value. Limestone formations offer a value-renowned landscape by harmonious combination of elements of rock and vegetation.

The placement not far away from the warm seas of the Adriatic and Mediterranean facilitated retreat and focus on habitat of many species of flora and associations unique or very rare in the world, who preserve their primordial mystery. The most representative species is common black pine of Banat (Pinus nigra), endemic species, which is also met in a few places in the country, all neighborhoods of the National Park.

Richness and rarity of natural phenomena: geomorphological, speleological, flora and fauna have attracted the attention of naturalists and to the reserves covered by Domogled - Cerna Valley.
